Abstract

Utilizing a first-person narrative, this essay chronicles a mother’s examination of the hidden politics of behavioural psychology as clinically applied to her three-year-old autistic child.

Elizabeth Dauphinee is Professor in the Department of Political Science at York University in Toronto, where she researches and teaches in the field of international politics, ethics, and narrative approaches to social science. She is the author of The Ethics of Researching War (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2007) and The Politics of Exile (London: Routledge, 2013). She is the founding editor of the Journal of Narrative Politics.
